What exactly is parent coaching?

Parent coaching is a collaborative process where I work with you to create the family you long for, based on your unique family’s values.

In my coaching program, you will have lifetime access to the Transformational Parenting curriculum designed by the Jai Institute for Parenting experts and in each coaching session with me, we take time to work through challenges, and integrate the material into your daily life. No more piecing bits of information together. The prescribed modules are proven to get you and your parenting partner (if you have one) results, and get you both on the same page.

Without conscious effort, our parenting methods can create conflict with our children instead of connection.

Without learning about the most recent brain science and nervous system research, we can unintentionally raise our kids to value the opposite of what we are trying so hard to teach them.
Most of haven’t taken the time to really define our goals, family values, and to educate ourselves on how our child’s brain works, which often creates confusion and endless power struggles. We are left with broken, distant relationships with our children instead of the close, nurturing connections we had with them as babies.

Or maybe, you’re reading up on these things and trying to put into practice information you read about online, but you’re struggling, and your parenting partner is not on the same page as you.

Many of us are beginning to realize something isn’t right.

Why are we yelling at our kids when we promised we would never do that? Why do I now dread spending time with my daughter when I used to rush home from work to spend every minute of the day with her that I could? Why is she so defiant?

These questions or similar may be ones you’re asking yourself or ones, as you are expecting your first child, are ones you hope you never have to think about.

It’s never too late to turn things around.

No matter what your relationship with your child(ren) looks like right now, or how disenchanted with parenting you are, how old you or they are, there is hope.

I can help you break free from the patterns of yelling, the frustration, and the complete overwhelm and feel connected to your family once again. If you have a parenting partner, I will help you to be more aligned.

It can be difficult to see a different way forward but I promise you it is there. And I can help you find it.

Who is parent coaching for?

I believe you deeply love your children and desire to raise them well. That’s why my core values as your coach are:

  • Understanding

I genuinely believe you are doing the very best that you know how. My coaching space is one of no judgment. I am not here to make evaluations of your parenting or tell you what your boundaries or values should be. Rather, I will support you to radically self-reflect and together we will search for the path forward that is best for your family.

  • Empathy

    Empathy always comes first.

I understand what it feels like to be a parent, wanting the very best for my child, but also be confused or overwhelmed. I know you have good intentions, even with you make mistakes. I believe that together we will find the way to create the family you long for.

  • Curiosity

I ask lots of questions as I strive to understand you, and help you to make sense of your internal and external world before discussing any strategies.

FAQs

How is parent coaching different from therapy?

Parent coaching is not a place where the past is extensively explored like in therapy (thought it may feel quite therapeutic at times!), rather we will briefly explore the past to understand how it is showing up in your current life. Parent coaching is also much more collaborative and involves a more solution-based approach, though any solutions we come to will be co-created. You know your family and yourself best. You will set your own, clear intentions at the beginning of your program and each call, and together we will develop a plan of action to be able to meet those goals.

I have a family and a busy life. Although I want more peace and connection in my home, I don't have much time to spare. How much of a time commitment is this?

I can certainly understand and empathize with the busy-ness that is parenthood! One of the key facets of my program is helping you to balance your needs with your family’s - meaning, I believe you needs are just as valuable as your child(ren)’s. I will support you to find a way to create time in your schedule to get the results you are desiring. But it is important to know that real change requires doing something different than you’ve always been doing.

The 12-week coaching program is a 3-4 hour time commitment per week. It includes a 55-75 minute coaching call with me, 1-2 videos in the online platform and journaling exercises each week. Custom coaching programs are 6 weeks, at a minimum, with a similar time committment.

How quickly can I expect to see shifts in my family?

Some clients see shifts within 2 sessions, and most find results in the 3-4 week range. I have never experienced it taking longer than 4 weeks to begin to see any improvement.

How long have you been doing this? and how did you get to be a Parent Coach?

I’ve been coaching clients since 2022 after receiving parent coaching certification from the Jai Institute for Parenting. I’ve also listened to hundreds of hours of podcasts, read several books, and gleaned wisdom from my own life, all of which I can thoughtfully bring into my practice when needed.

What if my partner and I aren’t on the same page?

I love helping partners find the middle ground. I will meet you and/or your partner where you are at. Virtually no parenting partners are on the same page at the beginning, but my program will help lead you to be more aligned, while making sure each of your voices are heard. Conflict during calls is not foreign to me. I help couples to find common ground, understanding, and solutions that are in the best interest of everyone in the family and we will discuss challenges that are getting in the way of the coherent family unit. I do not take sides.

When and where do we meet?

Currently, all parent coaching is conducted through Google Meets. I am open for coaching from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. MST, Tuesday through Friday.

Is this an online class?

Although there is an online platform and 1-2 videos you can watch each week, my program goes far beyond a teach-yourself course like some of the online classes on the market today. I am there as your personal guide through the material, available to answer all of your questions and help actualize the content from the journaling and videos. Having a coach and accountability partner will help to create lasting change that online courses, books, podcasts, and recorded videos struggle to do.

What are common issues you have addressed?

Yelling, anger, overwhelm, burnout, lack of confidence, parenting partner differences, setting limits, defiance, communication challenges, confusion about a child’s behavior, fear of messing up a child, fear of not being good enough, listening, toddler sleep challenges, meal time challenges, cleanliness, completing tasks, sibling issues, tantrums and much more.

Can I contact some of your former clients to see what it's like to work with you?

Absolutely. Almost all of my prior clients have agreed to share their experience with you.

What is the cost?

The price of your program is dependent on the type of package or service you sign up for, but sessions are similar to the cost of therapy. We’ll find the right program to get you the results you’re desiring, and discuss the cost during the free discovery call.
