Frequently Asked Questions about Coaching
How is parent coaching different from therapy?
Parent coaching is not a place where the past is extensively explored like in therapy (thought it may feel quite therapeutic at times!), rather we will briefly explore the past to understand how it is showing up in your current life. Parent coaching is also much more collaborative and involves a more solution-based approach, though any solutions we come to will be co-created. You know your family and yourself best. You will set your own, clear intentions at the beginning of your program and each call, and together we will develop a plan of action to be able to meet those goals.
How long have you been doing this? and how did you get to be a coach?
I’ve been coaching individuals and couples since 2022 after receiving parent coaching certification from the Jai Institute for Parenting. I used to be a teacher and I’ve listened to hundreds of hours of podcasts, read several books, and gleaned wisdom from my own journey, all of which I can thoughtfully bring into my practice when needed.
I have a family and a busy life. Although I want more peace and connection in my home, I don't have much time to spare. How much of a time commitment is this?
I can certainly understand and empathize with the business that is parenthood! One of the key facets of my program is helping you to balance your needs with your family’s - meaning, I believe you needs are just as valuable as your child(ren)’s. I will support you to find a way to create time in your schedule to get the results you are desiring. But it is important to know that real change requires doing something different than you’ve always been doing.
The 12-week coaching program is a 3-4 hour time commitment per week. It includes a 55-75 minute coaching call with me, 1-2 videos in the online platform and journaling exercises each week. Custom coaching programs are 6 weeks, at a minimum, with a similar time commitment.
Does this really work? What results can I expect?
That depends on how you define “work”. I can say, that if you show up and commit to putting in your best effort, yes, it will absolutely work to create a connected, loving and understanding relationship between you and your child and/or you and your partner. You will experience more confidence as a parent, and more peace in your family overall, as 100% of my clients do. This program “works” to support you in raising self-motivated, resilient, compassionate human beings.
Do you have your own children?
Yes, my husband and I have a son who was born in 2019 and a daughter, our double rainbow, who was born in 2022.
Amanda made the material come to life - she simply took what felt originally like fluffy, pie-in-the-sky material that I would have otherwise scoffed at and gone about my life and made it feel real and relevant. She grounded us in lived examples (both ours and hers) to make it feel like not only were we capable of learning the material, we were capable of MASTERING it individually and together.

What if my partner and I aren’t on the same page?
I love helping partners find the middle ground. I excel at helping you to understand one another and define a clear direction for your family. I will meet you and/or your partner where you are at. Virtually no parenting partners are on the same page at the beginning, but my program will help lead you to be more aligned, while making sure each of your voices are heard. Conflict during calls is not foreign to me. I help couples to find common ground, understanding, and solutions that are in the best interest of everyone in the family and we will discuss challenges that are getting in the way of the coherent family unit. I do not take sides.
What are common issues you have addressed?
Yelling, anger, overwhelm, burnout, lack of confidence, parenting partner differences, setting limits, defiance, communication challenges, confusion about a child’s behavior, fear of messing up a child, fear of not being good enough, listening, toddler sleep challenges, meal time challenges, cleanliness, completing tasks, sibling issues, tantrums and much more.
How quickly can I expect to see shifts in my family?
Some clients see shifts within 2 sessions, and most find results in the 3-4 week range. I have never experienced it taking longer than 4 weeks to begin to see any improvement.
Is this an online class?
Although there is an online platform and 1-2 videos you can watch each week, my program goes far beyond a teach-yourself course like some of the online classes on the market today. I am there as your personal guide through the material, available to answer all of your questions and help actualize the content from the journaling and videos. Having a coach and accountability partner will help to create lasting change that online courses, books, podcasts, and recorded videos struggle to do.
What is the cost?
The price of your program is dependent on the type of package or service you sign up for, but sessions are similar to the cost of therapy. We’ll find the right program to get you the results you’re desiring, and discuss the cost during our free call together.
When and where do we meet?
Currently, all parent coaching is conducted through Google Meets. I am open for coaching from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. MST, Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
